The Rain Of Today
(L: Schell; M: Cimetta)

Heavens open to shower the earth
They're closed for me the castaway
Through the door but I'm back again
Taken in but held for ransom
By the rain today it imprisons me
My boxes stacked low so I can see
The clear drops of water fall
A path in question
Not clear to us all.

What's lost is gone and I'll never have
That tomorrow again.

The rain of today splashes
Against my window pane
And it cleanses dirt streaks
That appear nothing but sane
A captivating sound
When sirens sing
Wash over my body
Unleash me within.

For one last time while I live here
I step outside and watch water
Feed grass so green this is my dream
Draining me of what is to be
All my life's fee can you not see.

And the raindrops keep falling on my head
The raindrops keep falling on my head
Raindrops keep falling on my head.

In front of me is this wall
I want to get over
But it's a long fall.

What's lost is gone and I'll never have
That tomorrow ever again.

The rain of today splashes
Against my window pane
And it cleanses dirt streaks
That appear nothing but sane
A captivating sound
When sirens sing
Wash over my body
Unleash me within...
