Through The Gates To The Temple
(L: Schell/Cimetta; M: Cimetta)

Notes:
Lyrically, this is my favorite song on "Pray." It's a metaphor for doing whatever you can to get what you want. The aspect of adventure is one most people can relate to, and find important; to me, everyday is an adventure. "Gates" is the first part of a larger, loose-fitting tale, which is concluded in "Stronghold."

The trek begins in search of gold
Three brave men with bags on their backs
A perilous journey a quest so bold
Crossing the land they burn up their tracks.

Heed to the map's every demand
Fatalistic a renegade's dream
No time for captives destroy by hand
This place is like none other seen.

Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
The trip they take is one of great length
Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
If they survive they'll prove us their strength.

What awaits them is a glittering prize
Chests of rubies barrels of jade
Ready to plunder dressed in disguise
This is the only way to get paid.

The compass points north but they must go east
Into this realm a richly den
Deep into the belly of the beast
Better beware or send the end.

They find the temple X marks the spot
Right by the water a peaceful site
An easy place to escape it's not
Shadows are large for it's the night.

Open the doors their fatal first step
Breaking a curse so they swear
Undead creatures in there are kept
Silently enter let's see if they dare.

Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
They lived through hell for heaven
Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
No one knows what awaits them within
Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
Their goal to be three on the throne
Through the gates to the temple
Through the gates to the temple
No one knows if they ever made it back home...
